I had a great experience at this clinic! I came in for a Pico Laser treatment and a treatment to remove my freckles, and I also got Botox in two areas of my face. They gave me a discount, which was a really nice bonus. Everyone was incredibly kind, professional, and welcoming. One of the things I appreciated the most is that everyone speaks English, including the doctors, so I was able to fully understand the consultation, the treatments, and the recommendations without any language barrier. I highly recommend this clinic, especially for foreigners who don’t speak Korean but still want to have a treatment where they can communicate comfortably and understand everything clearly. I felt very well taken care of throughout the whole experience. I would definitely come back! ❤️

Last updated:
The difference between xerf and Ulthera
**XERF**\ XERF is a fractional radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatment. It uses fine microneedles to deliver RF energy into the dermis, creating controlled thermal injury that stimulates collagen remodeling. It is commonly used for skin tightening, fine wrinkles, enlarged pores, and acne scars. **Ultherapy**\ Ultherapy is a non-invasive HIFU (microfocused ultrasound) lifting treatment. It delivers focused ultrasound energy to precise depths, including the SMAS layer, to stimulate collagen production and tighten/lift the skin. It is commonly used for face, neck, and brow lifting. **In short:** XERF = RF microneedling for skin texture, pores, scars, and tightening. Ultherapy = ultrasound-based deeper lifting and tightening.
If you're researching non-surgical facial lifting in Seoul, you've likely come across two names again and again: XERF and Ulthera (Ultherapy). Both promise firmer, lifted skin without surgery — but they work in fundamentally different ways, and the "right" choice depends on your skin, your goals, and how much downtime and discomfort you're willing to tolerate.
At Dami Skin Clinic, located in ILEX Tower near Saetgang Station in Yeouido, Seoul, both technologies are available and are frequently discussed during consultations with patients — including international visitors comparing options before committing to a treatment plan. Here's a clear, practical breakdown of how they differ.
What Is XERF?
XERF is a newer-generation device that uses dual-frequency monopolar radiofrequency (RF) — combining 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz in a single treatment pass. Rather than heating just one depth of tissue, the two frequencies work together to reach shallow, mid, and deep layers of the skin at once.
- The 6.78 MHz frequency targets the upper dermis, where collagen and elastin fibers live — this is where fine lines and surface texture respond.
- The 2 MHz frequency travels deeper, reaching structural tissue closer to the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) layer, which is what supports jawline and cheek definition.
Because RF energy is delivered through direct skin contact with built-in cooling, XERF is generally associated with minimal discomfort and little to no downtime, which is one reason it has gained popularity in Korea for patients who want visible tightening without disrupting their schedule.
What Is Ulthera (Ultherapy)?
Ulthera uses an entirely different energy source: micro-focused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V), often referred to as HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound). Instead of heating tissue through skin contact, Ulthera focuses ultrasound energy at precise depths — 1.5mm, 3.0mm, and 4.5mm — creating tiny thermal coagulation points deep in the dermis and at the SMAS layer itself.
Because the practitioner can visualize the tissue in real time before firing, Ulthera is known for being highly precise about exactly where energy is deposited. This depth of stimulation — reaching the same structural layer addressed in surgical facelifts — is why Ultherapy has long been positioned as a "non-surgical facelift." It's also generally associated with a more intense heat sensation during treatment compared to RF-based options, since the ultrasound energy is concentrated at a single focal point rather than spread across a contact area.

Both are non-invasive, both stimulate the skin's own collagen production rather than adding volume, and neither requires surgical downtime — but they get there through different mechanisms, and the ideal candidate profile isn't identical.
Which One Is Right for You?
Because RF and ultrasound respond to skin differently, the better option often comes down to individual factors your dermatologist should assess in person:
- Degree of laxity — more advanced sagging near the jawline or neck may benefit from Ulthera's precise SMAS targeting, while early-stage laxity often responds well to XERF's broader multi-depth approach.
- Pain tolerance — patients sensitive to focal heat sometimes prefer XERF's more evenly distributed sensation.
- Skin thickness and fat distribution — thinner-skinned patients or those with more subcutaneous fat may be better suited to one technology over the other.
- Downtime tolerance — if you need to return to work or public appearances immediately, this factors into the treatment plan.
Some patients aren't choosing one over the other at all — combining or sequencing XERF and Ulthera in a customized plan is increasingly common, using each device for the depth or area it handles best.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is XERF or Ulthera more painful?+
Ulthera's focused ultrasound tends to produce a more intense, localized heat sensation at the moment of treatment, while XERF's dual-frequency RF is generally described as a milder, more evenly distributed warmth. Individual pain tolerance varies, and both are performed with comfort measures in place.
Can I combine XERF and Ulthera?+
Yes, many clinics — including Dami Skin Clinic — design combination protocols that use each device for the tissue layer it addresses most effectively. This should be discussed during a personalized consultation.
How many sessions do I need?+
This depends on your skin's current laxity, age, and treatment goals. A single-session plan and a maintenance plan are both discussed during your assessment.
Is there downtime after either treatment?+
Both are designed as minimal- to no-downtime treatments, though some patients experience mild, temporary redness or swelling.

What Our Customers Say
The staff via whatsapp was friendly and responsive to accommodate last min change request to my appointment. The place was clean and comfortable and the lady doctor was helpful to suggest what’s good for me based on my needs. I find the procedures reasonably priced as there were some promotional offers. I managed to get there by 5.30pm for a last consultation and finished my treatments by 7:30pm (clinic closes at 7pm) yet besides the lady doctor who performed the procedures, the lady assistant who helped to clean and prep my face and the male interpreter who stayed with her to explain in English to me step by step what she’s doing— were patient and thorough, I didn’t feel rushed at all. I feel very pampered. I’ll certainly come back again the next time I’m in Seoul!
4 months agoWhile getting ready for my wedding, I started looking into different skin treatments and ended up getting a skin booster injection along with Pico toning. My skin is naturally very thin and sensitive, so I was worried because it tends to react easily if a treatment doesn't suit me. But they carefully checked my skin condition first during the consultation, which made me feel a lot more comfortable. There was a little redness on the day of the treatment, but once I put on makeup the next day, it was barely noticeable. I was especially happy during my wedding photoshoot because my makeup went on so well My skin just looked healthy and fresh without needing heavy coverage!
5 months agoLove this Clinic! My husband got lifting and his skin looks amazing now, plus they have some snaks and English translator for your consultation 🫶🏻.
11 months agoI recently visited Dami Clinic and had a really great experience! The staff were extremely kind and welcoming, which made me feel very comfortable from the beginning. The doctor was not only kind but also very professional, explaining everything clearly and carefully. I especially enjoyed my Sylfirm X treatment, which helps with redness and pores. The whole process was smooth. I would definitely recommend Dami Clinic to anyone looking for professional skin care with a warm and friendly atmosphere! 🌸
